At our core, we focus on providing access to quality arts education for students, schools, and communities by harnessing the collective power of hundreds of individuals, artists, organizations, and schools. As we seek to empower our community, our goal is to create transformative experiences that allow as many students as possible to find and express their voices and to see themselves reflected in the arts. The Arts Collab provides arts education programs to schools, convenes Birmingham’s Arts Education Network, and provides professional development to teachers and arts professionals on arts integration.

ARTS INTEGRATION SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS

Our school partnerships seek to create a platform for student voice by co-designing units to connect big ideas across the curricula through the arts. By expanding the unique goals of each classroom through focusing on standards-based arts instruction, students grow by taking risks in the creative process. Our teaching artists provide weekly instruction to develop the necessary art skills to spark passion, critical-thinking, and creativity in our future innovators. Our school partners receive weekly, standards-based arts instruction that is specially designed to meet their goals. Contact us to become a school partner today!

ARTS EDUCATION NETWORK

At the Arts Collab, we are building a community. Our network harnesses the membership of hundreds of artists, educators, arts organizations, and program directors to share resources and opportunities to increase art education throughout Greater Birmingham. Our network meets quarterly to share resources, celebrate the work taking place in our arts education community, and coordinate to further our collective vision and goals. Be a part of our growing arts community. Contact us or visit our website to join today!

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Learn how to infuse the arts across your curriculum! We offer standards-based professional development for teachers, administrators, artists, program directors, and arts organizations every year. Included in each session: skill-building opportunities in arts education, arts integration, arts leadership, and community building capacity to meet the needs of Birmingham’s growing arts education community. Sessions specifically designed for classroom teachers are coordinated within Service Centers and the State Department of Education to ensure that participating teachers receive continuing education credit for their participation. We also train artists to teach in schools. For more information about our Professional Development Programs and to book a session at your school or organization, contact us today!

The Arts Collab is a proud part of the Artistic Literacy Consortium, a statewide partnership funded by Alabama State Council on the Arts, the Alabama State Department of Education, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
