What is it?This program teaches students the history of Sloss Furnaces through a guided tour of the historic iron-making site. Students then are able to create their own iron tile by designing a sand block mold. Afterwards, students watch and iron pour and learn how the Sloss Metal Arts program makes iron art—comparing and contrasting to the historical way Sloss Furnaces made iron while it was operational.
