Our mission to change lives through music.

“Field Trips- Experience the symphony through our Explorer Concerts designed for grades PK-2, Young People’s Concerts designed for grades 3-5, and new this year- our Middle/High School Education Concerts for grades 6-8! Complimentary teacher guides/lesson plans are provided to help prepare students for their trip and are aligned with the Alabama Course of Study.

INSPIRE- Our INSPIRE Chamber music series presents brings are musicians to your school for a short program/concert. Designed to be an intimate experience for classes of 30 or less, these programs are sure to inspire and ignite a spark for learning more about instruments and music!

Virtually INSPIRED- As a virtual component of our education outreach and as an off-shoot of our INSPIRE program, we are offering K-12 schools the opportunity to request to have an ASO musician or ASO conductor visit students in a classroom setting. ASO Education staff work with the teachers to customize an experience unique to their classroom and educational needs. These visits will range from 30-45 minutes and will be scheduled during the school day. The platforms used include but are not limited to Zoom, WebEx, and Google Meet. A visit can include, but is not limited to the following:

  • A talk from the conductor or musician on a musical topic agreed upon with the teacher
  • Guided listening lesson through a piece of music
  • Intro to the musical instrument family or instrument of the musician’s profession- including a short demo
  • Interactive Question and Answer to help inform older students about career opportunities in music
  • Band Programs may request sectional help and/or specific tutorials on certain instrument techniques
