At our core, we focus on providing access to quality arts education for students, schools, and communities by harnessing the collective power of hundreds of individuals, artists, organizations, and schools. As we seek to empower our community, our goal is to create transformative experiences that allow as many students as possible to find and express their voices and to see themselves reflected in the arts. The Arts Collab provides arts education programs to schools, convenes Birmingham’s Arts Education Network, and provides professional development to teachers and arts professionals on arts integration.

MAGIC CITY MINDS™

MAGIC CITY MINDS™ seeks to create a platform to amplify and conjure creativity in our future innovators. In our programs, students take risks in the creative process, gain skills in critical thinking, and spark the growth of new passions. We collaborate with schools to infuse the arts into the classroom for long-term benefits in artistic and academic growth and increased student engagement. Our teaching artists develop co-designed units and offer weekly instruction to connect big ideas across the curriculum that is specially designed to meet each of our partners’ goals. In these unique partnerships, MAGIC CITY MINDS™ understands the alchemy that is created in classrooms when the inclusion of standards-based arts instruction meets the remarkable potential of young learners. Contact us to bring MAGIC CITY MINDS ™ to your school today!

ARTS EDUCATION NETWORK

At the Arts Collab, we are building a community. Our network harnesses the membership of hundreds of artists, educators, arts organizations, and program directors to share resources and opportunities to increase art education throughout Greater Birmingham. Our network meets quarterly to share resources, celebrate the work taking place in our arts education community, and coordinate to further our collective vision and goals. Be a part of our growing arts community. Contact us or visit our website to join today!

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Learn how to infuse the arts across your curriculum! We offer standards-based professional development for teachers, administrators, artists, program directors, and arts organizations every year in arts integration and Creative Teaching Strategies. Sessions specifically designed for classroom teachers are coordinated within Service Centers and the State Department of Education to ensure that participating teachers receive continuing education credit for their participation. We also train artists to teach in schools. For more information about our Professional Development Programs and to book a session at your school or organization, contact us today!
