QUARK (Quilting Activity Resource Kit) is the first in a line of products designed and produced by Bib & Tucker Sew-Op that teaches the fundamentals of math through the principles of art. The kit’s modality is hand-sewing, which focuses the mind and reinforces hand-eye coordination in young people. QUARK will focus on 3rd-4th grade core curriculum mathematics standards as outlined by the Alabama Department of Education and accessed through the Alabama Learning Exchange. During the workshops students will design and sew a quilt block, conduct measurements using a ruler, and gain a greater understanding of fractions and ratios.
