QUARK (Quilting Activity Resource Kit) is a kit designed and produced by Bib & Tucker Sew-Op that teaches the fundamentals of math (rectangles and squares) through the principles of art. The kit contains felt quilt squares, and instructions, that are hand-sewn together, which focuses the mind and reinforces hand-eye coordination. Our QUARK kit can be purchased on our website and is a great sewing activity for 4th-6th graders. We can facilitate QUARK instruction in schools by request. Please reach out to us for more information.

Recycled Runway: On the Mend is a celebration of fashion, innovation, and sustainability. The program is designed for middle and high school students to learn sewing and design through a series of workshops. The final goal of these workshops is for each student to produce a fashion show runway using repurposed clothing and materials. We offer this program on a yearly basis, which is open to 6th-12th grade students by application. Please see our website for more information on past and upcoming workshops or reach out to us for more information.

Summer youth sewing programs can be organized by request. These programs can be catered to the needs of the school or organization. Please contact us for more information.

The ""Tuesday Group Sew-Op Quilters"" is our weekly meetup at the Avondale Public Library from 10:30-12:30am. These sessions are free and open to the public and take place every Tuesday, except the second Tuesday of each month. The “Tuesday Group” was created for anyone interested in sewing, quilting, or other fiber arts to come and learn from each other.

The March Quilts project is a community quilt project started in 2015. Each year, our members choose a civil or human rights theme and facilitate open sewing sessions and discussions. During these sessions, participants create quilt blocks that express personal feelings about the theme. Bib & Tucker members then stitch the blocks into quilts that are exhibited throughout the state. Open sewing session dates can be found on our website and social media. We also facilitate sewing sessions by request. Please reach out for more information or to request a March Quilts sewing session.

Sewing classes are offered for a fee throughout Birmingham, such as “How Does This Thing Work?!” (an introduction to using a sewing machine), mending, and basic hand sewing. Please see our website for more information about upcoming classes.
