IAmGreatness Youth INC/Greater Birmingham Social Justice Youth Council

First and foremost, IAmGreatness INC is technically a non-profit (501c3) organization. But we mostly operate with limited funding and volunteers. So it feels more like a program or a ministry (when you consider the community service aspect).

As it relates to the arts. We offer songwriting and creative writing (poetry included) workshops. We also help with music production and offer performance opportunities (such as open mic events). Our mentees often record at Bomb Productions Studios, Audio State 55 and Mason Music. In the past, our mentees have created full music projects and filmed music videos (at no cost). Our mentees have also volunteered at various music festivals and local concerts/events. It has lead to performance invites. Our mentees have learned about creating music videos and film through collaboration with Sidewalk Film Festival.

Through collaboration with Parker High School and Student Treasures Publishing, we recently began teaching the full process of book publishing (illustration, writing, editing, etc). Through collaboration with Titusville Library, we are offering youth the chance to join an advisory board to create arts education programming and the chance to create art/help with various art projects for the library.
