Encouraging and Inspiring Youth Through Music and Culture

The Initiative for Creative Arts (TIFCA) is a 501(c)(3) community-based organization based in Birmingham, AL that introduces and explores the history, philosophy, and elements of Hip Hop culture to foster and nurture creativity, healing, entrepreneurial, leadership, literacy, and life skills; building brighter futures through music, art, connection, science, technology, and mentorship.

Since 2012, TIFCA has encouraged and provided space, and support for youth to become makers and producers in their communities and inspire youth to recognize their potential, and capacity for healing and positive self-expression through creative arts and community engagement. TIFAC’s programming strengthens service-leadership and support entrepreneurship through a fun, hands-on experience.

Participants learn creative, technical and entrepreneurial skills directly from Hip Hop industry professionals, practitioners and pioneers within their own communities and are empowered by having an outlet to express themselves through the music and art that they create and have the ability to record, package, and distribute.

By teaching and centering the elements of hip hop within our programming, youth develop, enhance, and expand their understanding of the world around them.
